Just Passing Time...

 May 24, 2023

Today's early excitement is a couple of small earthquakes. Past noon we go for a stroll, trying to pass time in a town where there is very little indeed to do for a tourist. Visit the Science Center (80s music and astrological signs in one of those dome theaters - who the flying f*** listens to Michael Bolton nowadays?), and the local electronics store, which actually does provide an acceptable level entertainment in the refrigerator and washing machine department (yeah, we're that desperate).

Run into a couple of Danes too, one of which gives good advice about where to go in case I head for Hokkaido, and later realize that the only way to get into the Fukushima Restricted Zone is by guided tours, for which we have neither the time nor the patience. Tomorrow we'll know how close they'll let us get to the sealed off areas.

Encouragement for using stairs rather than elevators.

They seem to have this weird fascination with balls and dicks....

Poster advertising a project for revitalizing towns in the countryside by using manga cartoon figures.

Teatime at the hotel's literary cafe.
